Location: Field-based (Hajr District, Hadhramaut Governorate, with presence in the main office in Aden as required)

Job Profile:
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Irrigation Specialist (Consultant) will lead the engineering assessment, technical design, crop water requirement calculations, Bill of Quantities (BoQs) preparation, and field supervision of pressurized/drip irrigation systems and greenhouse water supply networks for the drip irrigation farms and 100 greenhouse sites.
Responsibilities, Tasks & Duties:
·        Technical Oversight of Baseline & Feasibility Assessments: Provide agricultural technical guidance and quality control to the field assessment team during baseline and needs evaluations; facilitating the selection of eligible villages for high-efficiency irrigation systems, establishment and reviewing findings to Conduct comprehensive technical assessment reports on high-efficiency irrigation systems, groundwater sources (shallow wells), and water management practices covering to ensure full technical alignment with NAHR guidelines and relevant agricultural authorities.
·        Technical verification and selection: Lead the technical verification and selection of the beneficiaries, ensuring alignment with strict vulnerability criteria and NAHR's Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) framework.
·        Calculate Crop Water Requirements: Calculate precise Crop Water Requirements (CWR) and seasonal irrigation water demands, accounting for shallow well capacities and local hydrological conditions, and develop customized irrigation scheduling designs and water delivery protocols for targeted farms.
·        Distribution & Installation Oversight: Supervise the delivery, field installation, and proper setup of the drip irrigation systems across targeted farms in coordination with suppliers and technical teams.
·        Quality assurance: Oversee the quality assurance of the training for farmers and local technicians on drip irrigation maintenance, system operation, pipe flushing, emitter cleaning, and water conservation.
·        Technical Reporting Support: Contribute technical inputs, crop performance metrics, and field observations to compile accurate weekly, monthly, mid-term, and final reports.
·        Field Archiving & Impact Documentation: Document success stories, high-quality field photos, and human-interest case studies that illustrate the tangible impact of agricultural interventions on rural farm livelihoods.
Required Qualifications/Education:
Minimum Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, or Civil/Hydraulic Engineering with specialization in agricultural water management.
Skills and Experience Requirements:
  1. Experience:
-         At least four (4) years of practical experience in designing, implementing, and supervising modern pressurized irrigation systems (drip/micro-irrigation), farm hydrology, and agricultural water infrastructure.
-         Prior work experience in Hadhramaut Governorate or similar field locations in Yemen is highly desirable.
-         Strong track record in delivering practical, field-based training for local farmers and community groups.

-         Excellent skills in English in both written and verbal communication
-         High flexibility with excellent negotiation skills in dealing with difficult and conflict situations.
-         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
-         Good administrative and technical skills in people management and delivery of activities in emergencies.
-         Strong ability to use computer programs including engineering software and email. 
-         Good background and clean history of corruption, violence or health problems.
-         Ability to work under pressure and long working hours in emergencies.
-         Willingness to travel and conduct extensive field visits
